Hi, I’m Patriya, a product designer driven by curiosity and a love of learning. Growing up in a multi-cultural household and speaking three languages, I’m excited to bring a global and inclusive perspective to my designs.
I’m currently at the LEGO Group leading design and strategy for the Studio App, our 3D CAD software for building with digital LEGO bricks. As someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, I love being challenged to solve complex problems across our ecosystem and find mindful solutions. Having industry experience as both engineer and designer, I enjoy bridging the gap between these two disciplines within our products.
Leadership & community building is a unique skill set that I bring to the team. From leading employee resource groups (ERGs) to hosting design workshops, I enjoy fostering close connections with the people I work alongside. My desire to connect helps foster trust in cross-functional teams and ultimately drives us closer to our combined goals. While supporting our e-commerce platform, BrickLink, for adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs), I managed a service design team and pioneered our division's first end-to-end service blueprinting practice, enabling cross-functional alignment across leadership, product, design, and engineering teams while contributing to strategic vision planning. Additionally, as an interim PM and SCRUM Master, I transitioned our development team to agile methodologies and SCRUM ceremonies to keep our team aligned on deliverables and raise team morale.
From 2019-2021, I returned to academia where I completed my graduate degree in Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) at The University of Washington to strengthen my design skills and craft. During my time there I served as the UX designer for two community-focused mobile applications, one targeted at political organizing and another to provide resources for tight-knit parenting groups. I also spent a summer abroad in London for a design intensive course alongside instructors from the University of Arts London (UAL).
Before attending UW, I was BMW’s iDrive Requirements Manager and UI Language Manager. I also served as product owner for BMW’s Intelligent Personal Assistant, their in-house voice recognition project, in the North American market. Other notable work experience includes my time as a product development engineer at General Electric Appliances and Honda, and as a UX professional at Microsoft and ReachNow. My undergraduate studies were in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Design and German.
I look forward to new connections and coffee chats. Feel free to connect on LinkedIn.
